How to Become a Member

​

There’s no application form, secret initiation ceremony or minimum number of fantasy books you need to have read to become a member of Fantasy Bookclub Scotland. If you come along to one of our bookclubs and consider yourself part of our chaotic little club, then we do too.

​

Whether you join us online from your sofa, attend your first bookclub in Glasgow, find your people in Edinburgh or Aberdeen, or become a familiar face month after month, there is no right way to be a book gremlin. You don’t need to attend every meeting, read every book or know anyone before you arrive. Come when you can, join in however feels comfortable, and you’ll always be part of the FBS community.

Our regular bookclubs, Patreon and WhatsApp community are She/They spaces, created for women and non-binary people to connect over a shared love of fantasy and romantasy. From time to time, we also throw open the gates for larger standalone experiences, such as The Frost Moon Ball, where everyone is invited to join the chaos.

Want a Little More FBS?

You do not need to be a Patreon member to attend our monthly bookclubs, tickets are available to everyone within our She/They community. Patreon is simply for the book gremlins who want a little more: early access, discounts, exclusive events, extra content and an even bigger dose of FBS chaos.

Our free Patreon tier gives members a first look at upcoming events alongside selected exclusive content and blog posts. Our £6 Community Membership unlocks 25% off in-person and online bookclubs, priority ticket access, free monthly Reading Club and Hobby Nights, Zodiac Birthday Nights, exclusive content and the chance to help shape future FBS reads.

For our online regulars, Community + Online Bookclub Membership is £10 per month and includes everything above, plus a guaranteed place at our monthly online bookclub. With individual online bookclub tickets normally costing £10 plus booking fees, our regular online book gremlins can save more than 50% by joining this tier.

Patreon isn't what makes you an FBS member, it's simply the way to get a little more out of being one. Come to one bookclub or fifty, join Patreon or don't: if you've found your place amongst the book gremlins, you're one of us.
